Car Window Repair & Replacement-Auto Guides

Your local glass doctor carefully removes the broken window of the car (rear window, passenger door, sunroof, lunar roof, glass room, etc.) without damaging the paint, the connecting surface and the interior of the vehicle. Car Window Repair or Replacement?

Car Window Repair & Replacement Usually, car windows should be replaced rather than repaired. The reason is that the car’s side and rear windows are made of tempered glass. The tempering process involves heating the glass above 600 degrees Celsius, making the glass much stronger than non-tempered glass. When toughened glass breaks, it breaks into small pieces without large, sharp fragments. This makes tempered glass safer, but it cannot be repaired. Want to know if your vehicle is equipped with tempered glass windows or laminated glass? Check the bottom corner of the window. You will find a small label indicating whether the glass is tempered or laminated. Tempered glass usually includes:

  • Passenger Windows
  • Back Windshields
  • Sunroofs
  • Moon Roofs
  • Quarter Glass

Car Glass Repair Services

Although it is less common to repair toughened glass, some windows still retain a small number of scratches or debris. Car glass repair is cheaper than a complete replacement. The process involves removing debris from the damaged area and creating a smooth path for the repair resin. Repairing resin is injected, cured and polished for a seamless surface effect.

Repairs to windshields are more common. The windshield is made of laminated glass, in contrast to the windows. Laminated glass does not decompose as tempered glass.
